Biography
Dr. Chris T. Pernell is a physician leader, public health advocate, and Director of the NAACP Center for Health Equity. Her work focuses on health justice, community advocacy, and population health. Before joining the NAACP, she founded The Esther Group, a public health consulting firm, and served as the first Chief Strategic Integration and Health Equity Officer at University Hospital in Newark. Dr. Pernell earned her degree from Princeton University, her M.D. from Duke University, and her M.P.H. from Columbia University. She is also a Clinical Assistant Professor at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School.
